What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
As the daughter of two Terps, choosing the University of Maryland for my undergraduate experience was in my blood. The close proximity to my family and renowned engineering program made UMD a no-brainer. The Clark School provides everything I wanted to get out of college: cool clubs and student organizations, a popular study abroad program, proximity to an awesome city like DC, and great career services for assisting in finding jobs and internships.
Best Experience with a Class or Project
In my urban agriculture class, our final project was to take an empty piece of land on UMD's campus and design a useful space for students. My group designed an outdoor study space that also served as a cafe, garden, educational center, and small concert venue!
Favorite Class In Major
ENCE215: Engineering for Sustainability
Favorite Class Out of Major
CPSP349T: Infrastructure & Society
Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities
I am involved in Theta Tau: Professional Co-ed Engineering Fraternity, College Park Scholars: Science and Global Change Program, FLEXUS: Women in Engineering, ClarkLEAD, and intramural sports.
Favorite On-Campus Event
Maryland Day! I remember loving the event when I attended it growing up, and I still love attending it now :).
Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
For my sustainability class, I had to choose an item that I use in my daily life and research its entire lifecycle - from production to transition, distribution, utilization, and finally disposal. Researching the lifecycle of a simple t-shirt was extremely eye-opening of the massive impact that something so minuscule in my life can make on the environment.
Cool Engineering Experience
Last summer, I interned with Gilbane Building Company at their Kaiser Permanente Medical Center project in Hyattsville, MD. Every day I was on the construction site getting my hands dirty and learning the intricacies of project management engineering.
