What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I wanted to attend UMD because of the spectacular opportunities the engineering department had to offer. With its proximity to big cities such as DC and Baltimore, there are so many internship opportunities near the area that are readily available both during the semester and during the summer/winter months.

Best Experience with a Class or Project
The best experience I had for a project was in my Cell Bio class. Everyone was always on time for group meetings to prepare for our presentation, and when it came time to present our project, everything went seamlessly. I felt like I could rely on them to get their part of the work done in a timely manner and I never worried about nearing deadlines because of that. We were just all on the same wavelength!

Favorite Class In Major
ENES102: Mechanics I

Favorite Class Out of Major
PSYC237: Psychology of Evil

Student Organizations/Extracurricular Activities
I'm also part of Muslim Student Association, Alternative Breaks, and Organization of Arab Students (OAS).

Favorite On-Campus Event
My favorite on-campus event is the poster sale that happens at the beginning of the fall semester in Stamp. I always go to browse the selections over there. Even if I don't get anything sometimes, I always have a laugh at the posters with funny captions!

Favorite Research or Study Abroad Experiences
My favorite research experience would be my summer internship at NIH. I got to work with breast cancer cells and observe a phenomenon that I never learned in biology class, so it was very fascinating to see that and its implications with cancer treatment. The best part was getting to present the data I helped gather and interpret at the end of the summer.

Cool Engineering Experience
A cool engineering experience I had was doing the truss project in ENES102 my freshman year. It was fun figuring out the best design that would be able to hold up a lot of weight and I had a blast working on it with my teammates. What was even cooler was competing with other groups in my section to see whose truss could hold the most weight (we won!)
