What Made You Decide to Attend UMD?
I wanted to pursue Fire Protection Engineering, and UMD offers the only accredited undergraduate fire protection engineering program in the country. When I visited campus, I fell in love with the large-school atmosphere as well as the location along the East Coast. I also wanted to attend a school in the Big Ten because of their athletics, so that was another reason that I was drawn to UMD.

Best Experience with a Class or Project
My best experience with a class was my research project involving using acoustics and water mist to suppress flame. Even though it was cut short due to COVID-19, I really enjoyed being able to design and build the apparatus and test different components of the project.

Cool Engineering Experience
Working at a summer internship that allowed me to help with live fire experiments on apartments to study firefighter tactics and improve firefighter safety!
