Employer Resources During COVID-19 | A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Maryland

The Engineering Career Services Office in the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland is committed to supporting employers as they navigate the recruiting process during this unprecedented time.  Our office is open all summer and we will offer a full menu of recruiting activities in the fall.

Career Fairs
At this time, the University of Maryland College Park is planning to have students return to campus in the fall.  However, we will not be allowed to hold any large group events and so all of our Career Fairs will be held virtually.  We are working on new dates and hope to have the list of all of our fairs updated soon.  We do know that the large Fall Career Fair will be held on September 22, 23, & 24, 2020, 12:00-5:00 pm and registration is now open.  As in the past, employers may register for 1, 2, or 3 days of the fair.  We will be using Symplicity's new Virtual Career Fair module and are excited about the enhanced video capabilities.  There will be employer training modules released in August.

Information Sessions and Networking Events
At first we thought it might be possible to hold on-site socially-distanced information sessions (less than 40 students) in a large classroom but as of now all large classrooms are being held for academic courses (including evening hours).  We will continue to monitor the classroom situation but it might be best to plan something virtual for now.  We can set up a Zoom link for you or we can provide our students with a link from the platform of your choosing.  Please submit your virtual recruiting events here.  As always, we are open to a wide variety of different formats that will allow you to interact with our students.  If you have a creative idea, please contact us!  Just send an email to CareerEngr@umd.edu with a few dates/times that you are free for a phone or video call, and we will get back to you ASAP.

Inclusivity Note:  If you are able to hold an in-person event, we ask that you provide a virtual alternative for UMD students who choose not to return to campus for health/safety reasons.

Posting Jobs
Careers4Engineers, is the exclusive recruiting system for all University of Maryland engineering students and alumni.  Use your account to post full-time, internship and co-op job opportunities.  And because we share the database with the campus (Careers4Terps), you may also post positions for all non-engineering majors too.  Need access?  Sign-up here. 

Please note that we DO NOT use the Handshake platform for our job postings.  If you do not have the bandwidth to post jobs in our system, if there are only 1-2, you may email us the job description or appropriate URL and we will post them for you.

Interview Schedules
We would be happy to create interview schedules for you based on resumes you receive at any recruiting events or resumes that you receive through Careers4Engineers.  Just let us know what date you prefer, the length of the interviews (15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes), and which students you would like us to contact.  We can set up a Zoom link for you or we can provide our students with a link from the platform of your choosing.

For virtual interviews, please keep in mind that some students might have limited access to private space.  Background noise and other minor disruptions may be out of the candidate’s control and we ask that you be flexible and understanding.
