DEADLINE EXTENDED: The American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) annually awards three $3,000 scholarships, and administers an additional $5,000 scholarship, to students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)–accredited engineering program or accredited land-surveying program. In an effort to increase participation in this program, we would very much appreciate your assistance in this effort.
Founded in 1957, ACEC/MD is a nonprofit association representing approximately 90 multi-sized consulting engineering firms located throughout the state serving the public as well as private sectors. Almost 40% of the organization's member firms are certified MBE/WBE or SBE firms in the state of Maryland. Member firms employ over 6,500 employees and are responsible for the design of most of the area's infrastructure, environmental and building construction. The organization focuses on the business aspects of the consulting engineering profession and is affiliated with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), headquartered in Washington, D.C.
The Clark School of Engineering will submit ONE candidate each from the Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering Departments. Preference will be given to Maryland residents.
To qualify candidates, the following criteria should be considered:
- U.S. citizen
- Entering junior, senior, fifth or Master’s year in the Fall of 2020
- Financial need (statement of need must be included - not FAFSA nor financial worksheets).
- The successful candidate may be eligible to compete for scholarships in our parent organization’s, the American Council of Engineering Companies’ (ACEC), Scholarship Competition.
Utilizing the forms provided, the candidates’ qualifications along with a statement of need from the student, will be sent to the ACEC/MD office by the Clark School.
