About the Innovation Hall of Fame
The Innovation Hall of Fame was conceived by engineering alumnus Stanford Berman in 1985 and established in 1986 by the Engineering Alumni Chapter. Mr. Berman thought it was important to honor engineers for their technological accomplishments and recognize innovation at the concept, design or working level of engineering. He strongly believed that we should raise the pride of those in the engineering field, and provide role models for engineering students. He and his wife, former assistant dean Marilyn Berman, provided a generous endowment to support the creation of an Innovation Hall of Fame (IHOF).This year's inductees are Edward A. Miller, '50,
and James W. Plummer, '53, who were instrumental in the success of the Corona satellite surveillance project during the Cold War.
About the Charles and Helen White Symposium
The Charles and Helen White Symposium provides for the academic exploration of the interactions of engineering technology with the sociological, economic, and environmental considerations of modern society. This significant academic event was made possible through a generous endowment by Distinguished Alumnus Charles M. White, and his wife, Helen. |
